Fares on Salisbury's Park and Ride bus services are to increase next week (from Monday 15th April).

Wiltshire Council say the increase on tickets at all five sites, is to 'help continue providing a high standard of service'.

It'll also 'maintain and run Salisbury area services' which the authority says is a 'reliable, cheaper alternative to city centre parking'.

Leaving a car at the Park and Ride sites remains free, with the fees charged with using the buses.

Here's how the fares are changing:

  • Adult returns are going up from £3 to £3.50
  • Group returns will rise from £4 to £4.50
  • 10 journey tickets, purchased through the Salisbury Reds app go up from £14 to £16
  • Group 10 journey tickets through the app will be £18 to £20
  • 60 trip ticket, only available on the app, will rise from £70 to £80

Cllr Tamara Reay, Cabinet Member for Transport, said:

“Our Park and Ride sites offer an easy alternative to city centre parking. People can park for free and then use the regular bus services to visit the city centre.

“The increase to the Park and Ride bus fares are necessary and have been agreed to ensure Salisbury Reds can continue to maintain high standards of service. We thank everyone for using the services when visiting the beautiful city of Salisbury.”

Andrew Sherrington, Salisbury Reds general manager, said:

“Together with Wiltshire Council, we have considered these changes to Park and Ride ticket prices very carefully - and we are hopeful they will have minimal impact on our customers.

“These services are designed to help ease congestion within the city centre, and they provide those visiting Salisbury with convenient and comfortable transport connections.

“Our team works very hard to ensure Park and Ride is an attractive and viable option in Salisbury, and these latest changes will ensure we are able to continue providing a high level of service here.”
