Salisbury Hospital's longest serving staff member invited to Buckingham Palace party
He's been given two tickets
The longest serving member of staff at Salisbury District Hospital will be partying at Buckingham Palace today (Saturday 4th June).
The hospital's charity the Stars Appeal was awarded two tickets to the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and decided to give them to Mike Penney.
They were inspired by the Queen's long service so chose Mike and let him take a guest too.
Mike has worked at Salisbury Hospital for over 43 years.
He started in August 1978 as a Catering Assistant, then worked as a Porter for 27 years before taking on his current role as Storeman in 2010.
Mike said:
âIâm very proud to have worked at the Hospital for so long and it has been great to see so many enhancements in medical care during my time here. I am touched to have been recognised by the Stars Appeal for my long service. Iâm really looking forward to going to the Palace and enjoying the live music.â
It's a concert which has been organised to celebrate the Queen's 70 years on the throne.
Some of the world's biggest entertainers will be there to put on a show.
