We can find out more about the new Salisbury Station Forecourt scheme next week.

Part of the £9 million investment in Salisbury City Centre from the government’s Future High Streets Fund, it aims to renovate the space outside our train station and links in with the Fisherton Gateway project.

The new works will include landscaping, trees, street furniture and a bus interchange.

Wiltshire Council's holding a 'meet the contractor' event in the former food counter space in the Salisbury Railway Station ticket hall next Tuesday (16th April), between 2.00 and 7.00pm.

The Salisbury Station Forecourt is set for a 'major revamp' over the next year

Cllr Tamara Reay, Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Assets, said:

“One of our key priorities is to have vibrant, well-connected communities and the redesign of the forecourt area will make it more attractive and accessible for visitors and residents.

“These improvements aim to enhance the public realm and improve wayfinding to provide a welcoming arrival point to encourage tourists and visitors to the city centre, to stay longer and spend more of their money in our local independent shops, cafes and restaurants which this modern cathedral city is renowned for.”

“We recognise the works will cause some disruption to local people and businesses. We would, therefore, encourage local people to attend this event to find out more at an early stage and to ask any questions they may have.”

Lewis Cowley, Milestone Infrastructure’s Regional Director, said:

“We have been working with Wiltshire Council, Network Rail and South Western Railway for a number of months to develop the most efficient delivery solution. Our team will be happy to present the construction phasing plans at this event and be on hand to answer other questions related to the station forecourt construction works.”
