Salisbury faces a further year of disruption, as contractors will be starting work on the Station Forecourt project as early as next month.

Milestone Infrastructure have revealed more about their plans, which aim to give a Salisbury a better first impression for people arriving by train.

It’s part of a £9.4 million pound investment in the city from the Future High Streets Fund from the Government, which also includes the Fisherton Gateway scheme.

£5.3 million of the funding is going the Forecourt phase.

What's planned?

The work is expected to last about a year, and will see no public parking available while work is carried out.

Only eight spaces for accessibility will be in use.

Milestone are attempting to keep disruption to a minimum, but one road closure will be necessary.

That’s on Churchfields Road, where a Zebra crossing while be constructed. This work will also be carried out at night.

A new pedestrian crossing point will be going in on Churchfields Road, to allow passengers easier and safer access to the train station

They’ll be doing the rest of the work on Mondays to Fridays, between 7.30am and 5pm.

Milestone have told us that the project aims to improve accessibility to the station, along with better public transport links.

There will be a reduction in public car parking spaces but there will be three bus stops as it’s hoped the redevelopment will boost sustainable travel use.

The development also includes clear locations for pick up and drop off.
