South Western Railway is set to introduce a Welcome Host into the foyer of Salisbury's train station.

The idea's been trialled at stations including Southampton Central and is now being expanded.

Welcome Hosts will be available to give passengers advice on routes, times, and to purchase tickets.

They'll have a special, and obvious, desk as you enter the station and will be on duty Monday to Saturday very soon.

Huge changes are planned for the front of Salisbury's train station, to make it more welcoming and accessible

Rachel Josey, Head of Customer Experience, South Western Railway said:

“We’re always looking at ways to improve our customer service and we hope the trial of ticket purchasing will help save customers time and provide a more streamlined service at our stations.

"We’re very proud of the positive feedback our Welcome Hosts have received so far, and this is yet another important step forward for us. We hope that our customers at these stations will benefit from the new ticket selling service.”

The Welcome Host scheme has been trialled since September 2020, initially as a way of supporting passengers returning to the rail network after lockdown.
