A second batch of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine is expected in the coming days which will cover a similar number of people.

Meanwhile vaccination centres in the community are expected to come into operation shortly.

Wilton Rotary Club have told Greatest Hits Radio they have been asked to provide marshalls for a facility in the Micheal Herbert Memorial Hall in Wilton due to open later this week.

It's also understood Tidworth Leisure Centre is due to be used as vaccination centre.

Whilst facilities have opened in the north of the county in Devizes and Swindon none have yet opened here in the south.

A statement form BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group confirmed that would change shortly;

"COVID-19 vaccine roll out across Wiltshire continues with the target priority groups being invited to an appointment at a range of local venues. More venues will be coming on stream over the coming weeks and patients will be invited by the NHS to get a jab according to the priority set out by the independent Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. With another vaccine now becoming available the NHS will be able to vaccinate more people and at a greater pace."

"Please do not contact your GP or hospital to arrange an appointment because you will receive an invitation when it is your turn to be vaccinated. For most people this will be a letter, either from your GP or the national NHS, but you may also be contacted by email or by text message."

Those aged 75 and over, residents in care homes as well as anyone over the age of five who is immunosuppressed are among the cohort who will be offered a further booster

PRIORITY LIST FOR VACCINATION

1 - Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers

2 - All those aged 80 and over. Frontline health and social care workers

PLEA NOT TO CALL YOUR GP SURGERY

Meanwhile local GP surgeries have been inundated with calls from residents asking when they will be able to recieve their Covid -19 jab.

Downton Surgery was among those who sent a text message to their patients.

"Downton Surgery would like to thank you for your patience during this period. We are being inundated with calls surrounding the Covid-19 vaccine. You will recieve a letter inviting you to a vaccination site when your facine has been allocated."

Whilst Salisbury Medical Practice said the recent approval of the Oxford-Astra-Zeneca jab provides "a major boost" to their plans.
