Rise in infections cause some wards to close at Salisbury District Hospital

Any friends or family of patients at Salisbury District Hospital are being asked to call ahead of any visits, as some wards and bays have been closed.

That's due to a rise in diarrhoea and vomiting infections as well as the continued levels of Covid-19.

In areas unaffected by infections patients will be able to have one person visiting for one hour.

Visitors must call ahead to book a time slot and also be able to show proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test.

The Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust say they are trying to allow as many visitors as possible, but also keep staff, patients and visitors safe.

A spokesperson said:

"We are fully aware of how important visiting is and are doing everything we can to facilitate safe visits."

As of yesterday (Wednesday 23rd March) there were 46 positive in patients at the hospital.
