Sports stars are auctioning off their time, talent and possessions to help Hope and Homes in Salisbury.

Money raised from the eBay sale aims to raise funds to help find families for some of the 5.4 million children confined in foreign orphanages.

Wayne Cornish from the charity said:

"We want to shut the worlds last orphanage and get every single child back into a family, either with their relatives and if that's not possible, we train social workers who can build foster care networks to get those children back into foster care."

Wayne added that half of children confined in orphanages worldwide suffer abuse and sexual violence, with their suffering unnecessary, as 8 out of 10 children living in orphanages aren’t actually orphans. Most have living families who could care for them at home.

The auction is running until 3pm on Sunday 10th December with items including signed memorabilia, a Dancing on Ice experience with Torvill & Dean, golf with David Seaman, a boxing experience with Johnny Nelson and so much more.

“Just as sportspeople do better with a home advantage, so do children,” explains ex-England rugby skipper Will Carling, who is taking a lucky bidder for dinner at Tom Kerridge’s restaurant with Mike Tindall.

“No child should be confined to an orphanage, deprived of the advantages of home, family and love.

“So get bidding in the #HomeAdvantage charity auction to help give a child the home advantage of a family this Christmas.”
