From today (26th August 2022), Salisbury celebrates the delicious food and drink the city has to offer through a series of events.

Following the success of 2021's inaugural city-wide foodie festival, Salisbury BID, Salisbury City Council and Experience Salisbury have teamed-up again, and a are promising this year’s celebration will be even bigger and better.

The Salisbury Museum, Dinghams, The George & Dragon, Cote Brasserie, Marks & Spencer and Craft Bar at The Salisbury Arms are just some of those involved.

Roly’s Fudge Pantry will even be selling a limited edition Taste Salisbury Fudge. Exclusively made for the festival, the Explorer’s Gin and Lemon Fudge was created in collaboration with the locally based, Downton Distillery.

Steven Jones, owner of Roly’s Fudge Pantry, said:

“We love the idea of Taste Salisbury and were delighted to be included in the celebrations. We’re always looking for ways to engage with the local community, which is why we were keen to work with a high-quality local producer. Downton Distillery definitely fits the bill with their Explorer's Gin!”

Arron Howle, at The Cherrytree Coffee Bar on Mill Road, is one of the newest local businesses to join the festivities. He’s also a Salisbury BID Director. Of Taste Salisbury:

“National tourism is much more important since Covid hit. Visitors are looking for an experience that’s different and events like Taste Salisbury are a big part of what attracts people to a destination. There are lots of cities out there with cathedrals and beautiful town centres, so this really helps us stand out from the crowd."

"We haven’t been doing Taste Salisbury very long but already it’s getting bigger and bigger and I think in the future that’s only going to grow and bring a lot more people into the area.”

Other events and promotions over the ten days include:

• Fish Row Food Festival on 3rd September with Reeve the Baker, Pritchetts Family Butcher, Premier Fish and Maul’s Wine and Cheese Bar.

• A Taste Salisbury waffle special at Wafflemeister

• Fine-dining tasting menu at Allium

• Pimms Week at The Salisbury Museum

• Meet rugby legend Freddie Tuilagi at Deacons on 31st August

• An End of the Summer Road Flamenco Fiesta at Maul’s Cheese & Wine Bar on 3rd September

Salisbury BID Chief Executive, Robin McGowan, said:

“Taste Salisbury is a brilliant way for residents and visitors to support our local hospitality venues. We are lucky to have a vast array of food and drink businesses in the city and we’ve been thrilled to see so many get involved in events and promotions this year. As well as offering support to businesses, Taste Salisbury will inject a festival feel into the city centre as summer winds down.”

To round off the ten-day festival, Salisbury City Council is bringing back Foodie Sunday. The market place will be packed with food and drink stalls, demonstrations and entertainment. There’s also the popular Great Salisbury Bake Off where talented bakers can show off their skills and be in with the chance to win a prize from Charter 1227 Catering or The Cake Forge.
