Three arrested after 'suspicious activity' outside Wiltshire prison

This happened near Erlestoke yesterday morning.

Police were called by a member of the public at around 11.20am on Sunday (6th September) to report a suspicious vehicle seen near to Erlestoke Prison.

Officers found the Vauxhall Astra involved, with three males inside.

They all became verbally and physically aggressive towards police and ran away in different directions.

All of them were chased and detained, before being arrested for various offences:

  • A man in his 20 from Enfield, London was arrested on suspicion of attempting to bring/throw/convey prohibited articles into a prison and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug
  • A 17 year old male from Thurrock in Essex was arrested on suspicion of attempting to bring/throw/convey prohibited articles into a prison and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug
  • A man in his 20s from London was arrested on suspicion of attempting to bring/throw/convey prohibited articles into a prison and being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug

Officers searching the suspects found multiple mobile phones, cash, sim cards, tobacco, cannabis and an unknown white powder.

All three of the males have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Wiltshire Police have thanked the member of the public for reporting the incident to them.
