Residents in Tidworth and the surrounding area are urged to be vigilant following string of burglaries.

It's not just run of the mill stuff that's being stolen, the crooks are targeting seasonal Christmas goods.

Here's an indication of what's been happening during some recent incidents that have been reported in Tidworth, Durrington and Shrewton:

  • Several thousand pounds worth of alcohol was stolen from a shed
  • A £2,500 mountain bike was stolen from another address
  • Cash was stolen from another house, along with car keys and house keys

Outbuildings such as barns and garages have been targeted in a number of incidents; several vehicles have also been affected with items being stolen.

POLICE WARNING: Christmas presents should be kept out of sight

PC Sharon Duggan of the Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“It would appear that specific items are being sought; mainly bicycles from outbuildings and valuables from vehicles. We’ve had reports of several high value bicycles being stolen from areas such as Durrington and Shrewton and on most occasions, offenders are gaining entry by breaking padlocks or windows."

“At this time of year expensive items such as these are often being bought as presents so I would strongly advise that these are kept out of sight whether in a shed, garage or vehicle so as not to act as an invitation to opportunists.”
