According to Victorian Plumbing, Tidworth has the tastiest tap water across the country.

The average levels of sodium, copper and iron found in UK water supplies is 122 mg/L, but the Wiltshire town’s supply has only 24.5mg/L of these unappetising metallic substances.

Supplied by Veolia Water Projects 100% of Tidworth's water supply comes from ground sources.

Wessex Water, which supplies parts of Wiltshire including Salisbury, came in sixth with a rating of 89.4mg/L.

Isles of Scilly, Severn Trent and Bristol Water were the three worst ranked for taste.

Meanwhile, Tidworth also scored high on the softest water scale.

It was placed second with only 1 µg/l of magnesium, which means it's likely to make things like your hair softer, and your plates cleaner.

However, Wessex Water was ranked as the third dirtiest water supply.

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR WATER QUALITY

The online bathroom retailer have now issued some tips on how to improve your water quality from home.

  • Install Filters - a great way to remove those pesky chemicals from your tap water to provide you with a more clean and crisp tasting water supply.
  • Do An Annual Drain - Sediment, bacteria and metals can build up in the water heater tank. This can independently impact household water quality and water pressure.
  • Run cold water taps for two minutes, or put on some household water using appliances such as the dishwasher before using water for drinking and cooking. When water hasn't been used for several hours and sits in your pipes for long periods of time, water quality and taste can decline.
  • Flavour Your Water - there are some simple ways to jazz it up and make it more appetising. After filtering it, why not add some fresh lemon, lime, mint or even cucumber and keep it in the fridge for a quick fix throughout the day.
