No trains through South Wiltshire again today

There's another day of strike action

South Western Railway say NO train services will be running through Salisbury, Grateley and Tisbury stations once again today (Saturday 1st October).

The operator's advised people should expect severe disruption and only to travel if absolutely necessary, due to strike action.

The RMT Union and members of the TSSA union are walking out in a long-running dispute over pay, jobs and conditions.

We're also warned that the impact of the strike will also mean disruption tomorrow (Sunday 2nd October).

First trains will start much later than usual across the network and are likely to be very busy, so we're still encouraged to only travel if necessary.

South Western Railway’s Performance and Planning Director, Steve Tyler, said:

“I’m sorry that due to strike action we must urge our customers to only travel if absolutely necessary on Saturday 1 October and Sunday 2 October. Those needing to travel should seek to do so by other means.

“Large parts of our network will be closed on the strike day and there will be a late start up on the morning after. Those who must travel are urged to carefully check the times of first and last trains and avoid them if possible as they are likely to be very busy.

“We are grateful to our customers for their continued cooperation, patience, and understanding as the rail industry works to bring this damaging nationwide strike action to an end.”

Great Western disruption

On the GWR network, we're also warned that services will be severely disrupted, with no trains coming through our part of Wiltshire.

Bus replacement services are also not available, with the operator offering refunds or date changes to customers who should have been travelling this weekend.
