A man and a woman have been arrested in Redlynch by police investigating the theft of a vehicle.

Dorset Police were alerted to a Land Rover Defender being taken from Alder Drive in Alderholt just after 8.00pm on Friday night (22nd July).

Officers have been carrying out enquiries and asked Wiltshire Police to make an arrest on their behalf.

A 28 year old woman and a 30 year old man were arrested at an address in Chalk's Close, Redlynch yesterday morning (26th July).

They've been held on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and since released under investigation.

The vehicle reported stolen has been seized by police.

Further searches in East Dorset uncovered some parts of a Land Rover that are allegedly from a vehicle reported stolen in Hampshire.

Sergeant Lee Turner, of Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team, said:

“This is another example of how we work with our neighbouring forces to relentlessly pursue those reported to be committing offences in our rural communities.

“Through sharing information with our colleagues in Wiltshire, we were able to take positive action to effect these arrests and progress our investigation.”

Sergeant Lisa Lovatt, of Wiltshire Police, said:

“This investigation should show criminals that we will not allow county boundaries to deter us from investigating and arresting suspects.

“We have strong working relationships with our neighbouring police forces and will continue to work closely with our colleagues at Dorset Police to protect our communities.”
