A spectacular festival of motoring and aviation at the Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop has seen 3,000 visitors get involved.

The event on Saturday 2nd July featured more than 500 vehicles and aircraft on site, and also saw the new Apache AH64-E make a guest appearance.

Although it remained behind the wire, it was available for visitors to view throughout the day.

Despite the weather hampering the ability for some of the aircraft to undertake a flypast, it failed to dampen the spirits of those who had made the trip to the sold-out event, which saw visitors able to get up close to 30 aircraft as well as hundreds of super and classic cars and motorbikes.

There were many classic and super car clubs in attendance, spanning over one hundred years of motoring including the Maserati Club, the Aston Martin Owners’ Club, the Austin Healey Club and the Porsche Owners’ Club.

Top vehicles went before a panel of judges including Mark Dixon, Deputy Editor of Octane Magazine, in a Concour’s D’Elegance, with the winner a 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Touring car in Spider Grey.

Other attractions on the day included a motorcycle cavalcade, an engine roar, shopping village, live music, kids zone, beer tent and local caterers.

Lucy Johnson, Army Flying Museum CEO, said:

“We are delighted to have welcomed so many people to the second Wallop Wheels & Wings. This is the biggest event in the museum’s fundraising calendar and is so important in helping to raise the profile of the museum and the work that we do. It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces and to see such a wonderful variety of cars, bikes and aircraft join us - roll on 2023."

Wallop Wheels and Wings next year is set to take place on 1 July 2023, more info at www.armyflying.com
