For the second year running, Wilton Community Carnival Committee have announced that the event will 'sadly' not be taking place this year.

It was announced in a Facebook post where the committee said there is too much uncertainty surrounding events to make it worthwhile planning for.

The event was due to take place in July.

Instead, they're organising a 'Picnic in the Park' at Castle Meadows for August.

A Spokesperson from the committee said:

"We hope that will go some way to reuniting everyone after a very long time apart.

"It'll be bring your own food, drink and chairs and we intend to put on some entertainment like a live band."

Organisers are working on the community event and want to know what locals think about it.

They are asking if the picnic interests the community and if any business would like to run a stall.

You can contact the committee about the event here.

The date is yet to be confirmed but they are hoping it will run from 2pm to 9pm.

Last year's Wilton Carnival was postponed in May 2020 because of the pandemic and was due to take place in July.

The Committee hope that preparations for Wilton Carnival 2022 will resume at the end of the year.
