Wiltshire MP backs police push to cut violent disorder

One of Wiltshire's MPs is backing a push by the county's police force to tackle violent crime in our town and city centres.
Andrew Murrison has been meeting with Chief Constable Catherine Roper to discuss policing issues raised by his constituents.
Violent disorders were an area that came up as a particular concern, despite latest figures showing a 15% fall in violence with injury incidents in Wiltshire. |newtab)
Dr Murrison, who represents South West Wiltshire, says he was 'pleased' with the stats.
Chief Constable Roper also spoke to him about the importance of neighbourhood policing and night time economy patrols in dealing with disorder.
Andrew Murisson said:
“It was a good time to chat with the chief as I’m collating residents’ feedback from my recent survey.
"Online fraud is an increasing problem even if other forms of criminality are declining. In this are,a rural crime remains an issue with thefts against business in general increased recently and against land based enterprises a particular issue.
"I certainly support the rising police numbers and Wiltshire’s efforts to slim down HQ operations in favour of the frontline.”
