Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner praises volunteers for keeping communities safe
Philip Wilkinson has paid tribute to the many volunteers across the force
Wiltshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Wilkinson has paid tribute to the many volunteers who support the work of his office and Wiltshire Police.
Over 1,000 people give up their free time to support the criminal justice system in Wiltshire whether it's through being a Special Constable, being part of the Community Speed Watch or Horse Watch schemes, working within restorative justice or being part of the many volunteering opportunities on offer.
The praise comes during Volunteers' Week, which ends today (7th June).
Philip Wilkinson said:
"Volunteering week is an excellent initiative which gives us the chance to put our volunteers in the spotlight and highlight the work they do.
"Volunteers give up their own time to make a real difference to their communities and help make Wiltshire a safer place to live and work. Iām constantly struck their outstanding efforts which are unpaid and often, unseen.
"Iād like them to know that without their work, our communities would be worse off and less protected. I'd like to put on record my gratitude and heartfelt thanks for their efforts.
