Taunton Minster is proving itself to be a successful home for the rarely seen Peregrine Falcons.

All eyes are on a church webcam, as it captures the nest of the resident peregrine falcon - and in it currently lies three chicks and a fourth egg which is waiting to be hatched.

In their latest great reveal on X, those watching the Falcons said:

  • Two chicks hatched on Monday (23 April)
  • One chick hatched on Tuesday (24 April)
  • One egg is still hatching!

Tobie Osmand, The Reverend of Taunton Minster, said: "The Peregrines themselves are a phenomenal bird - they are the fastest living things on the planet, and we are a breeding success locally - and a great way of hopefully keeping the pigeon population down!

"One of my favourite moments on the camera at the top of Taunton Minster was when the adult male was teaching the juveniles how to fold their wings back - you saw him bullet in to the tower, and three falcons not succeeding quite as well as he was able to.

"Within the Church, we have to turn the TVs off during services, otherwise there's distraction - but they're on otherwise all the time so people can witness what's going on up there."
