Man charged after military truck drives into police cars in Norton Fitzwarren

A man has been charged by police - after an army truck was seen driving through a police road block in Norton Fitzwarren.

Emergency services were called to reports of threatening behaviour when the incident happened yesterday afternoon (10 September).

41-year-old Geoff Marshall, of Station Road, Norton Fitzwarren, has this evening been charged with one count of dangerous driving, 12 counts of criminal damage and one count of battery today.

The charges relate to an incident, in which officers received reports of a man causing damage to a property, before driving a military-style lorry into police and public vehicles.

Marshall has been remanded into custody and will appear at Taunton Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Tuesday 12 September).

The community are told to expect to see a continued police presence in the area while enquiries are carried out.
