Two sisters have died in a tragic crash in Frome.

The incident happened at about 22:30 last Tuesday night (July 25) on the Frome bypass, where a Volkswagen Polo crashed with an Audi RS6.

21-year-old Madison North, and Libby, who was 17, have now been formally identified.

Known as Maddie and Libby, the sisters passed away following the incident, whilst a man in his 30s remains in hospital in a stable but critical condition.

In a statement by Avon and Somerset Police, they said: "Our thoughts remain with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time and they are being offered support by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

"Our investigation into the collision is ongoing and officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision and anyone with dashcam, doorbell, mobile or CCTV footage."

The force say they are especially keen to speak with the driver of a white VW who was in the area at the time of the crash.
