More people are in Dorset hospitals being treated for Covid-19, while Public Health Dorset say that vaccinations are having a significant impact.

Case rates in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area have decreased, although they remain higher than the averages for England and the South West.

Dorset Council's case rate has stayed relatively stable over the past couple of weeks and it remains at a similar level to the England average.

There are currently 41 people in hospital in Dorset with COVID-19.

7 day case rates per 100,000 since 13th August, BCP: 406.6 and Dorset: 307.0

As case rates remain high, Public Health Dorset, are reminding us to still consider the risks from Coronavirus.

  • Keep testing regularly
  • Self-isolate and get a PCR test if you have any symptoms of COVID-19
  • Meet others outdoors wherever possible, or keep indoor spaces well-ventilated
  • Wear a face covering in crowded spaces
  • Keep washing your hands regularly

A Spokesperson from there told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset:

"We can see that vaccinations are having a significant impact on preventing serious illness and stopping many people from needing hospital treatment, as hospitalisations remain much lower than at similar points during previous waves. Anyone who hasn't yet had their COVID-19 vaccine can still take up the offer, there are plenty of options available with appointments and walk-in clinics located across the county."
