Bizarre excuse as police break up lockdown house party

Hampshire Police say they've broken up a house party in breach of lockdown rules in Basingstoke.

The occupants were spoken to and claimed to officers that they weren't aware of the coronavirus pandemic, as they never watch the news.

The details emerged on social media last night, with Hampshire Police posting on Facebook:

"Officers were deployed to an address in Basingstoke this evening following several reports of a party at an address, and therefore breaching lockdown guidelines.

"The occupants were spoken to and claimed to be unaware of the global pandemic, as they never watch the news!

People are again being urged to follow lockdown rules designed to cut the rate of Covid-19 infections and ease pressure on the NHS.
