A 74 year old man from Dorset has gone missing on the Scottish island of Skye.

Francis Johnson left his home on September 4th, travelling to the west coast of Scotland.

He arrived on the Glenbrittle campsite on September 6th, planning to stay for a few days, but hasn't been seen since.

His car and camping equipment remain on the site.

Francis is described as an experienced camper and walker, with his disappearance 'out of character'.

He's 6 feet tall, of medium build, grey balding hair and wearing outdoor clothing - he's also believed to be on foot.

Police Scotland have launched a missing person investigation.

Sergeant Graham Cameron said:

“Francis is an experienced walker and plans his trips meticulously so it is out of character for him to be missing and not be in touch with family and friends.

“Concerns are growing for his welfare and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him or knows where he might be.

“If you were out and about in the Glenbrittle area and may have seen him please get in touch. Likewise, if you have given a lift to anyone of his description.”
