Gun-wielding robber steals cash from Arundel store

Police have stepped up patrols in the town

Extra police are patrolling the streets of Arundel following an armed robbery in the town last night (November 23rd).

A man armed with what appeared to be a handgun entered the Co-op store in Queen Street at 9.55pm on Monday and threatened staff.

He left with around £4,000 in cash.

Sussex Police said no shots were fired and no injuries have been reported.

The suspect was described as in his 30s, wearing a black mask, a hat, coat and purple or black trainers.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed a man matching this description in the area at this time.

It is believed a woman may have entered the shop during the incident and police are urging this person to make contact with them.

Sussex Police said officers would be conducting high visibility patrols in the area while searches for the suspect continue.
