Man arrested as police investigate three-vehicle M27 collision

It occurred shortly after a white van allegedly drove the wrong way down the westbound carriageway

A man's been arrested after a multi-vehicle collision on the M27.

It follows Hampshire Police receiving reports of a white van driving the wrong way along the westbound carriageway at 9:40pm on Saturday.

Three vehicles subsequently collided between junctions five and seven.

A passenger in one of the vehicles involved suffered a fractured ankle.

A 55-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs.

He has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dash cam footage of it, to get in touch.

People driving between junctions two and three at the time are also being asked for information.
