Pass GO, collect £200 and advance to the New Forest.

The New Forest is getting its own official Monopoly game.

The factors taken into consideration by games’ bosses in the contest were "sense of family and community", "civic pride", "area of outstanding natural beauty" and "stunning landmarks".

The makers of the game are Winning Moves, who are producing the board under license from Hasbro.

Carol Seymour, business manager of Go New Forest, said: "We are absolutely thrilled at the news that we are having our very own Monopoly game based on the wonderful New Forest.

"This news is on top of our recent TripAdvisor award of being the no.1 national park in Europe."

Winning Moves Custom Games executive Ella Gibbs said: "We expect to be wonderfully spoilt for choice putting this unique and official board for the New Forest together."

And that choice is being handed over to the public who will get to:

Nominate more than 30 New Forest landmarks to featuring on the famous multi-coloured Monopoly squares from the classic London game.

Select most of the tokens. Not all the tokens from the Monopoly original like the top hat and ship will go in this unique edition.

And in their place? A pony (replacing the Scottie dog), walking boots (rather than the plain boot) and several others which the public will decide on.

The four train stations look set to become four walkways or cycleways.

Landmarks expected to be nominated include Rufus Stone, Knightwood Oak, Bolton’s Bench, The Huff Duff, Bolderwood and Moors Valley.

Nominations via these two ways:

1) By email to: newforest@winningmoves.co.uk

2) To the official Monopoly: New Forest Edition game Facebook page. The deadline for nominations is 23.59pm on 24th August 2022.
