Police have increased patrols in the Littlehampton area following reports of children being approached by a man in a black van.

Sussex Police have confirmed that searches are underway after several incidents were reported on Tuesday (November 10th).

The children were quickly able to inform an adult about the incident, according to officers.

No-one was harmed in the incidents.

Police are continuing with inquiries, and have asked parents to speak with their children about the dangers of speaking to strangers.

Inspector Jason Parry said: "We are working to establish the full circumstances of these reports.

"We are aware of speculation and commentary on social media and would like to assure the public that incidents such as these are rare and we have upped patrols in the area.

"We would ask members of the public to remain vigilant but not alarmed and that parents speak to their children about not engaging with strangers.

"Report any incidents to us immediately."

You can report any suspicious behaviour either online or call 101, quoting reference 1303 of 10/11.
