Welsh singer Aled Jones has joined forces with a pianist suffering with dementia in a bid to reach the No. 1 spot this Christmas.

The 'Songs of Praise' host has teamed up with Paul Harvey, a former music teacher who went viral last year when his son posted a video of him playing the piano.

Being able to improvise a tune, Paul shot to fame - appearing on BBC Breakfast and inspiring the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra to record their own version of Paul's song.

This year, Mr Harvey has written a new song, titled 'Christmas Isn't Just Another Day', specifically for the Music for Dementia charity.

With Mr Jones providing vocals for the piece, both men are hoping to reach the number one spot to raise money in aid of the charity, which helps people suffering from the condition with the method of music.

Speaking about the collaboration, Mr Jones said it was a pleasure to work with the 81-year-old pianist.

"I recall the first moment I saw Paul Harvey on TV and like the millions of others who saw it, I was blown away by his amazing talent, I remember being in tears watching his story," he said.

"It remains one of the most positive rays of light during lockdown."

Paul Harvey and Aled Jones have collaborated in the name of charity, hoping to reach No. 1 this Christmas.

Mr Harvey also said he wanted to work with Aled Jones on the single, inspired by Mr Jones' iconic cover of 'Walking in the Air'.

He said: "From the start I wanted to team up with Aled Jones on this project, he has a wonderful voice and he brings back fond Christmas memories."

Released on Monday (December 20th), 'Christmas Isn't Just Another Day' is free to download until January 4th next year. All proceeds and revenue generated from the song will be donated to Music for Dementia.
