Wales's new football captain Aaron Ramsey says despite Cymru's poor performance at last year's World Cup in Qatar, he is excited to lead Wales into their Euro's qualifier matches.

Wales are aiming to get to their third Euro's in a row after crashing out of their first World Cup since 1958 last year.

Wales scored just one goal, in a penalty against the USA, scored by Gareth Bale of course. They drew in that match but lost to Iran and England in the group stage, leading them to crash out of the tournament last in their group.

Speaking of his disappointment of Wales's performance, new captain Arron Ramsey said "It was a very difficult time after the World Cup''.

"We did so well to finally get to the finals and to experience that, but it was a very strange World Cup.

"I think a lot of things naturally went through your mind afterwards, but after a bit of time to digest it all, you're ready to go again.''

Wales is now getting ready for their European championship qualifiers, facing Croatia on the 25th of March, and Latvia on the 28th of March.

Since the world cup, Gareth Bale, Joe Allen, Jonny Williams and Chris Gunter have all retired from the squad, leaving many fans worried that finding good enough replacements will be too big a task.

But, Ramsey is confident in the new Welsh side, saying ''There is a lot of young players on a high number of caps already.

''We are missing those players but there is so much excitement with some of the players playing at the highest level at the moment.

''We can definitely make our own history with this team''.

Finally, Ramsey spoke about the moment he learnt he will be leading Wales to the Euro's.

''I was just to go out with some food with my wife at the time and ' had a call and said 'sorry love, I'm going to have to take this'.

''He (Rob Page) said then he wanted me to be the captain. That meal definitely tasted a lot better.

''It was a very proud moment for me. I was just grateful to have that opportunity again''.
