Bus heading around the UK to spread the gambling ads message

Campaigners against gambling adverts are setting off on a UK tour – starting in Swansea this morning (September 6).

Members of the Coalition Against Gambling Ads are embarking on a tour around Britain raising awareness of the devastating impacts gambling advertising has on adults and young children everyday.

A double-decker tour bus wrapped in branding and provocative images will transport representatives from member organisations to governing bodies and places of interest in Wales, Scotland and England.

Nick Phillips, from Llanelli, is founder of the Gambling Guardian group and will also be driving the bus.

He said: "We'll make peaceful and meaningful engagements with authorities, as well as the public, to support our campaign to end all gambling advertising, promotion and sponsorship.

"We’ll be joined by people harmed by gambling who will share their stories and explain the importance of a gambling ad-free country, including the positive mental health impact this will have on both adults and children.

"We hope to engage people in the weeks leading up to the widely anticipated government White Paper in response to its Gambling Act Review."
