Man's Body Recovered From River

Coastguard and mountain rescue team took part in search

A man's body's been recovered from a river in North Wales.

Police had been called out yesterday afternoon after reports a man had fallen into the water in Abergwyngregyn near Bangor.

The emergency services attended including the Coastguard and members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team and a search began.

Just before 7.15pm the body of a man was recovered from the water.

The man’s next of kin have been informed.

Detective Chief Inspector Alun Oldfield, North Wales Police said: “Our heartfelt sympathies are with the man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. They will now be supported by a trained Family Liaison Officer.

“An investigation is now underway to establish what happened, and as such we are unable to make any further comment.”
