Adele performed an emotional tribute to the late George Michael at the GRAMMYs last night, but her performance didn't quite go to plan.

The singer was forced to restart her performance after suffering problems with sound for the second year running.

Performing a slowed down version of 'Fastlove', a tearful Adele stopped midway into the song and said, "I know it's live TV, I'm sorry I can't do it again, like last year. I'm sorry for swearing. I'm sorry for starting again. Can we please start it again?"

After a standing ovation from the star studded crowd, she added, "I'm sorry, I can't mess this up for him. I'm sorry, I'm sorry for swearing! I'm really sorry. Sorry."

Nailing her performance on the second attempt, Adele blew away both viewers at home and the GRAMMYs audience with her touching tribute.

Watch the moment below:

Speaking backstage after her performance, Adele admitted she'd been working really hard on the performance and had been rehearsing almost every day for the last month in order to perfect George's track. Therefore she felt it was only right to restart the performance.

Despite the small mishap, it was an incredibly successful night for the 'Somebody Like You' singer.

Not only did she open the show with an incredible performance of her massive song 'Hello', the 28-year-old also cleaned the board when she picked up a massive five awards.

The singer even beat off tough competition from fellow superstar Beyoncé in the 'Album of the Year' category.

Clearly in shock herself, Adele decided to break her award in two to give half to pregnant Beyoncé, calling her 'Lemonade' album 'monumental'.

She said, "I can't possibly accept this award, and I'm very humbled and very grateful and gracious but my life is Beyoncé, and the album to me, the Lemonade album, Beyoncé, was so monumental, and so well thought out.

"And so beautiful and soul bearing and we all got to see another side of you that you don't always let us see, and we appreciate that.

"All of us artists adore you. You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves.

"And I love you. I always have. And I always will".

So kind! 👑

As well as 'Album of the Year', Adele was also successful in the 'Record of the Year', 'Song of the Year', 'Best Pop Vocal Album' and 'Best Pop Solo Performance' categories.

Adele also made history at the prestigious awards, by becoming the first artist ever to scoop the top three awards on the same night twice!

Adele also won 'Album of the Year', 'Record of the Year' and 'Song of the Year' for her album '21' back in 2012.

We may only be a month and a half into 2017, but already it's been a very successful year for the singer. Adele will be hoping to continue her success at the BRIT Awards next week.

She's nominated for 'Best British Artist Video' for her track 'Send My Love'.
