Homeless people in South Yorkshire have been placed in B&B's and hotels in West Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

A shocking report has found that some people are being sent as far as 20 miles away.

Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley Councils have all sent people in desperate need of housing to different authorities – with some being rehomed up to 20 miles away.

Homeless charity, Shelter, have said that sometimes Councils have no other option and for people not to refuse it on location.

They said:

“If you ask for help before you become homeless, the council has more time to find emergency or longer term housing if you need it.

“Ask where emergency housing is likely to be so you know what to expect. You may have to accept lower standards than in longer term housing.”
