It's the day cat lovers in Sheffield have been waiting for...as the city's first 'Cat cafe' opens its doors for the first time.

Tabby Teas houses nine friendly felines in total - all of them from local rescue centre Millhouse Animal Sanctuary.

You can book slots of 90 minutes, when you can enjoy a coffee while watching the cats explore their 'Cat jungle', climb on their aparatus or chill on a comfy pillow.

Charlotte Pickering's one of the owners - she says it's unique:

"It's essentially like going to someone's house that has a lot of cats and having a cup of tea and a piece of cake. It's the company of cats more than anything else. This is their home so they can chill out and do what they want so you're vising them.

"We've got our lovely kitties and a nice bulidng with lots of play areas for them. It is very differnet but I'm sure people that are cat lovers or even if you're not you can alway check it out I know its an unusual idea and there not very many in the country."

It's taken the owners three years to get the cafe off the ground since they had the idea.

Charlotte says it's been worth it though:

"I love animals so it makes sence to have something like this, it's taken a long time. I've done a lot of research, I've done voulntary work with the aniamls, I've gone out there and learnt different skills I'd need to know in order to work with the animals and also to make this possible. "

Cat cafes originated in Aisa but have now spread over here - Sheffield's the latest UK city to open one after Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester and London
