People across South Yorkshire are being warned to 'stay vigilant' today-with thunderstorms & flooding expected across the region.

Some travel disruption is expected due to the adverse weather conditions, with a Yellow Weather Warning in place until midnight tonight.

Simon Partridge is a Forecaster at the Met Office & has been telling us what to potentially expect:

"We might see some localised surface water flooding and some very difficult driving conditions are possible.

"However, at the same time, you could be a mile or two down the road and you may not see any rain at all.

"So, it's going to be very hit-and-miss during the day, but if you end up in one of those thunderstorms then you'll definitely know about it.

"You could see up to a couple of centimetres of rain in the space of an hour or so.

"So, that amount of rain falling on very baked, dry ground also means there could be some surface water issues.

"That could lead to drainage problems, as the rain just won't be soaked up by the ground as it would happen normally.

"Be prepared that you may also end up losing power temporarily if the lightening happens to strike in a certain place, so it's worth planning ahead."

Despite the heavy rain expected across the region today, temperatures are expected to reach around twenty-one degrees Celsius during Tuesday.
