Wayne Rooney Charged With Drink Driving

The 31-year-old was pulled over in the early hours of this morning by Cheshire Police.

Footballer Wayne Rooney has been charged with drinking driving.

The former England Captain was pulled over by police at around 2 o’clock this morning (1st September) in the Wimslow area of Cheshire. The police reported that the Everton striker was driving a black VW Beetle prior to the arrest and has now been charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit.

He's been released on bail and will appear in court on the 18th September.

Cheshire Police issued a statement earlier this afternoon, it read:

"The man was arrested shortly after 2.00am today, Friday 1 September, after officers stopped a black VW Beetle on Altrincham Road, Wilmslow.

"Wayne Rooney, aged 31, has since been charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit".

Rooney is due to appear before Stockport Magistrates on the 18th September.
