Small and medium-sized businesses in Stoke-on-Trent will be able to apply for grants up to £10,000 being offered by the local council.

Stoke City Council has announced the Stoke Recovery and Growth Grant to help businesses that have struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The grant prioritises small and medium-sized retailers who have yet to claim support from the Council; however, all businesses are eligible to apply for the grants.

Businesses will also be able to employ external consultants and developers in order to help to diversify and digitalise their company.

The move is part of a push by Stoke City Council to put the area on the map as a hub for business and trade.

The Recovery and Growth Grant will help to boost local businesses across the city of Stoke.

Cabinet member for education and economy at Stoke City Council, Cllr Janine Bridges welcomed the opportunity for more local businesses to grow in the city.

“It’s great that so many businesses have already benefited from grant funding through the city council which has assisted them through the pandemic, and I’m really pleased we can now offer this additional help," she said.

Small and medium sized businesses are so often the heartbeat of the economy and our communities, and we want them to thrive. That’s why this funding is so important and I would encourage all eligible businesses to take a look and apply for this new source of help.”

To qualify, businesses must have been trading before August 1st, 2021 as well as paying rates or council tax to the Council.
