In a tweet Council Leader Abi Brown confirmed the news, praising those involved in pulling it off.

Tunstall's Daniel Platt Business Centre will be host to the centre managed by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) which hopes to ramp up the city's vaccination programme.

Latest data shows just over 92,000 doses of the vaccine have been given across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire up until the 17th of January.

Over 80,000 people have been given their first dose of the vaccine across the regions, roughly 7% of the entire population.

It's as the daily case rate also continues to decrease in the city with 382 out of every 100,000 residents having the virus on the 17th of January.

"Fantastic news"

The city's Director of Health Paul Edmondson Jones said it was "brilliant news for residents" and "a huge step forwards in the battle against this awful virus".

Staffordshire County Council Leader has also praised the efforts saying:

“Our NHS partners have been working tirelessly to deliver the Covid-19 vaccination programme across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, and this vaccination site will mean more eligible residents and frontline health and care workers are protected against the virus.

"This is fantastic news."

The centre will open on Monday, first to health and social care workers and later on for other priority groups.
