A 27-year-old driver who died in a motorway crash involving a lorry at the weekend has been named by police.

Beth Malpass, from Dudley in the West Midlands, had been at the wheel of her red MG MG3 car when it was in a collision with a white HGV at about 1am on Saturday, Staffordshire Police said.

The crash happened on the southbound carriageway of the M6, near junction 11A for the M6/M6 Toll interchange.

The lorry driver was not injured.

In a statement the force said specialist officers were supporting Ms Malpass's family, who had requested privacy.

Meanwhile, police have appealed for witnesses who may have seen the vehicles before the crash, or for anyone with dashcam footage to contact officers by messaging Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter.
