A Stockport teenager who killed two Manchester schoolgirls after crashing his mum's car has been jailed for 32 months.

Idrees Ibn-Haroon, 19, ploughed into an oncoming Ford Fiesta in Cheshire after losing control of the Vauxhall Corsa that he took for a drive in the early hours of Sunday 19 March 2023.

Mariah Hussein, 16, and her cousin Kiara O'Lisa, 13, were in the back seat of the Corsa and died at the scene.

The Corsa's driver, a 20-year-old woman, was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Mariah's sister Saira Hussein, 21, was in the car and taken to hospital - her injuries were not life-threatening.

Haroon, from Cheadle, pleaded guilty last month to two counts of causing death by careless driving.
