On Thursday 12th May, Jackie Brambles hosted a special Eurovision show, ahead of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final on Saturday 14th May. As well as playing some of the most memorable and iconic songs from the competition over the years, Jackie spoke to some contestants from the UK, past and present.

The UK's Eurovision representative for 2022, Sam Ryder, joined us on Greatest Hits Radio to talk about his rise to fame and his musical influences.

In the Jackie Brambles: Eurovision Special, we also got to hear from previous Eurovision UK contestants Katrina Leskanich from Katrina & The Waves, and Lulu talking about their experience in the competition.

For his performance, 33-year-old Sam Ryder will sing his original song 'Space Man'. Sam released his debut EP 'The Sun's Gonna Rise' last year and has been touring Europe to promote the album. He rose to fame by posting song covers on TikTok, and became the most-followed UK artist on the platform in 2020, which led to him being signed by record label Parlophone Records Limited.

Speaking about his upcoming performance, Sam said: "I don't want to let the stigma or fear of coming at a certain place in a table stop me from doing something and being a part of something that I enjoy so much.

"As long as I can go to Eurovision and know in my heart of hearts I'm going to do the best job I can then everything else is out of my control."
