Springfield Junior School say they were notified yesterday, 6th October, of a single case of Covid-19.

They have since followed directions from the Department for Education to prevent the spread, which involves 30 pupils and four staff members self-isolating.

Headteacher of the school on Kitchener Road, Louise Everitt, said: "All other pupils and staff can continue to attend school as normal with all the precautionary coronavirus measures in place as detailed on our website."

The case was discovered in one of the school's Year 5 bubbles.

Mrs Everitt added: "We have begun to provide remote learning for the pupils isolating and continue to keep in touch with those families to support in any way we can.

"I would like to thank our whole school community – staff, parents and pupils - for their quick response to this situation and their continuing support at this time."

Springfield Junior School is continuing to work with Public Health England following the positive case.
