Investigations continue into double murder near Sudbury

A man is being held on suspicion of murder after the deaths of a 12 year old girl and a 44 year old woman

Police say a man remains in hopsital under arrest on suspicion of murder, after the deaths of a 12 year old girl and a 44 year old woman in a village near Sudbury last week.

Officers were called to the Heath Estate in Great Waldingfield at 9:55am on Thursday September 8, funding the mother and daughter dead inside the property.

A 46 year old man was arrested at the scene and is now in a stable condition in hospital, having suffered serious injuries.

Detectives think there is no wider threat to the public and all three people involved were known to each other.

Post morterm examinations have now taken place on both victims,

The 12 year old girl died from a stab wound to the abdomen, while the 44 year old woman died from pressure on the neck.

The victims haven't been formally identified.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information and for witnesses to come forward.
