From today (17 May), Ipswich Borough Council will continue the phased re-opening of its sport and leisure facilities with the return of indoor fitness classes at Whitton Sports Centre.

With indoor gatherings of up to six people or two households getting the go ahead, the Council is also able to offer leisure swimming slots at Crown Pools and badminton court hire at Whitton Sports Centre for up to six people from different households.

The facilities have already been operating badminton and family swimming for households and support bubbles, as well as outdoor fitness classes, gym slots, public lane swimming, swimming lessons and club hire for pools and all weather/grass pitches.

Covid-Secure measures remain in place and all visitors will need to pre-book and pre-pay for all activities online before they visit.

Booking is now available and customers are encouraged to book early to secure their place. Slots can be booked online up to seven days in advance.

Councillor Bryony Rudkin, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Sport & Culture, said:

"The further easing of restrictions means we are able to offer even more activities for customers and we can't wait to see people back indoors enjoying the activities they love.

"Our experienced team of instructors are eager to start delivering our varied programme of classes and help people get active again safely.

"All our Covid-Secure measures remain in place - including one-way systems, cleaning schedules and social distancing - so customers can be sure that they can get active again safely.

"If you're planning on visiting, remember that all activities must be booked and paid for online in advance - booking for next week is now available on our website."
