Championship promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town are hosting a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side this afternoon.

The Tractor Boys lost ground in the hunt for the top two automatic promotion spots last weekend, after a shock defeat at home against Cardiff City.

Kieran McKenna's side had won six league games in a row before last weekend.

Ipswich Town could go into second for at least 24 hours with a victory against Sheffield Wednesday, with Leeds not playing until Sunday.

Wednesday have struggled this season in the Championship following promotion, sitting in the relegation zone and only one place from the bottom of the table.

Speaking to TownTV, Kieran McKenna said "We face a really strong opponent and everyone needs to be ready for that, from the players to the crowd because it will be a really hard-fought game,

“The group has always had talent on an individual level, we feel, and the new manager has come in and organised in a really good way, both on and off the ball, while playing a really aggressive brand of football.

“But we’re really looking forward to that and it’s going to be two teams trying to take the initiative and two teams playing an aggressive game both with and without the ball.

“We back ourselves, we’re the home team and we’ll go and try to make it the game we want to be, hopefully giving everyone an exciting game and three points.”

Kick off at Portman road is at 3pm.
