A school in Ipswich is shut today because of a suspected hoax.

Police tell us they were called to Stoke High School Ormiston Academy, in Maidenhall Approach, around 7:20am, following reports of malicious communications being sent to the school.

Officers say they're currently investigating to establish the full circumstances, but currently believe the communications amount to a hoax.

Acting Inspector Colin Clack said: “Officers are at the scene, however we ask the public not to be alarmed. We are there to ensure public safety and provide reassurance to the school and local community.”

Stoke High School Ormiston Academy, in Maidenhall Approach, is said to have sent an email to parents and pupils earlier this morning confirming the news.

We've contacted them for more information.
