Man suffers potentially life-changing injuries in A14 collision

A man's suffered potentially life-changing injuries following a serious crash on the A14.

Suffolk Police were called to reports of a collision involving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter box van and DAF truck on the westbound carriageway near J49 shortly after 10:25am on Thursday.

The East of England Ambulance service, air ambulance and Suffolk Fire and Rescue also attended.

The A14 was closed in both directions following the incident.

One lane of the eastbound carriageway reopened at approximately 1:45pm, before the road fully reopened at 6:15pm.

A man in his 50s, who was driving the box van, was taking by air ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital after potentially sustaining life-changing injuries.

The truck driver, a man in his 30s, was treated at the scene but escaped serious injury.

Suffolk Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage of it, to get in touch.
