Today marks National Stress Awareness Day and we've been speaking to Suffolk Mind to find out what we can do as we prepare for another lockdown.

The Prime Minister announced at the weekend the country would go into the heightened measures from Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December in a bid to tackle rising cases of coronavirus.

Head of Mental Health Education at Suffolk Mind, Ezra Hewing, thinks it will result in more people seeking support.

He said: "We expect that the second lockdown will have an impact just as the first did, which led to an increase in people contacting Suffolk Mind's services and our Connect telephone support service, as well as Suffolk Night Owls. We expect to be very busy.

"We will continue to make information and advice on how you can meet emotional needs and reduce the impact of stress available on our website."

Ezra explained that it's important we know how to deal with stress as it can lead to numerous mental health issues.

He continued: "Because stress can push people down the mental health continuum toward anxiety and depression, Suffolk Mind is always seeking to raise awareness of the key emotional needs that have to be met to reduce the impact of stress.

"So, ensuring that people - as much as they can - feel in control with their lives, feel safe, feel connected to others, and have meaning and purpose in their lives which builds resilience."

Anyone who needs support with stress or mental health issues are encouraged to visit the Suffolk Mind website.
