Armed officers and police helicopter respond to reports of a man with a weapon in Surrey

Armed officers and a police helicopter have been responding to reports of a man seen with a weapon in Surrey.

Surrey Police were called to Hazon Way in Epsom around 2.30pm today (8 September).

In a post on Facebook officers say an extensive search was carried out but no one matching the description given was found.

The post went on to say officers remain the area to answer any concerns:

"We understand that this may have caused some distress to residents, but we’d like to reassure you that we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public at this time.

"If you witnessed anything suspicious or have any information which could help, please send us a direct message."
